Comics: Manga vs American vs European(/rest of the world)

Post by Kaunisto » 3 months ago

What have you read most in your life and what are you reading now?
Manga(/manhwa), American or European(/other) comics?

I'd say for me it's about 60% US, 30% European and 10% manga for all time - having read the others half of my life before manga really got here and it still being less available for me. US-Europe is harder to estimate, it might as well be 50-40 (largely due my love of 2000AD).
Last few years I've read less comics than before (once again I blame social media, such as this forum); what I have read might go to manga about 70-15-15.

I generally read manga as my primary literature at this time, but I'll be reading and reviewing an American comic soon for work~ I flipped through it when I first got it, and it's amazing. I just wanna reread it before I get on the review 'cause I was half asleep the first time xD

Due to where I live Euro/etc comics were almost nonexistent. As a kid I read mostly American comics, usually dated one from the 80s-90s since you could buy a few at flea markets for a buck. When I became a teen a book store started selling manga so I bought those too.

Mostly manga. Though I read those in spurts. Just finished the collectors edition of Cardcaptor Sakura today.

American comics, I used to read some. I grew up reading a bunch of Disney ones and some Sonic. I was reading the My Little Pony comics, but am so behind on those.

Good question. Most of the ones I read personally was Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, and Aladdin.

And yay ponies! XD

I've read more American comics than Mangas. I've only read maybe four or five mangas, whereas I've read at least 20 or so comics. (Mainly Teen Titans ones, go figure. :P And only maybe two Marvel ones as I'm more into DC.)

Finland was always more a Marvel country, so I've mostly read only Batman from DC. Plus I do love Vertigo stuff.
