Where'd my face go?

Post by Juneberry » 2 months ago

I don't know if something went wrong, but... When i go to change my avatar it shows, but if I look at threads and posts, my avatar is missing! Is it a bug from the update or something else?

I fixed it. I'm not sure why, but it required re-uploading. o_O

That's unusual, but simple enough! Thank you very much!

Anytime! I had to change PHP versions (and hence versions of my WAMP suite) in order to update to the latest version of phpBB (which ridiculously is still not compatible with PHP 7.3), so that required restoring the database. I'm guessing that your avatar's path contained a character that got messed up when I restored the database.

PHP 7.3 support isn’t even that damn hard either. :/

In fairness, though, they have a development team with like four people. :P

Given I updated a obsolete and badly coded forum to work fine on PHP 7.3 (it was designed for PHP 5.2) within about two weeks it shouldn't be too hard for a standards-compliant software that attempts to keep up to date with things?

I don't feel that phpBB really makes a huge effort to keep up with things. Look how long it took them to build a quick reply in to their software, for example. XD
