Have you ever jailbroken your iphone?

Post by Ravenfreak » 3 months ago

I'm just curious to see if anyone here has jailbroken their iphone. Basically if you don't know what jailbreak means, it means to hack your phone to allow you to add emulators and I assume other apps too without the need to buy anything from the app store or itunes. I don't feel comfortable doing that with my iPhone, maybe if I get a new one in the future I'll jailbreak my current one.

I've never jailbroken any mobile device, but I've heard that it can be quite rewarding. I just don't see the point when I can do everything I need to do on my PC.

Nope, but I would like to get a smartphone that I can flash and install a custom OS on it. I hate how AndroidOS and iOS devices are SO locked down with crap you don't need. I tried replacing most of Google's spyware with F-Droid-sourced apps. Definitely less annoying.

Check out Librem 5. This would be so cool to try out! :3

It would be nice if there were a smartphone that ran completely off free software.

Yes, though I didn't see any need for it in the end (I don't use my phone for emulation/etc) so I uninstalled it...

Yeah, I don't see much use for those things on a phone really.

The same goes for people modding current consoles when they're still relevant. Don't even get me started on how pathetic Nintendo modding communities are...

If you want freedom, don't jailbreak and don't make jailbreak projects, just tamper with stuff that can be tampered without risking thinks messing up...

It's too bad that every platform with any kind of support whatsoever is restricting freedom so badly. Windows is a lot more restrictive than it used to be. Linux would be great if it were compatible with more programs and games.
